Methods to Custom Painting and weathering resistance on Unfinished Wood?

I have unfinished outdoor wood benches. I need ideas for paint custom painting and also some sort of weather proof / Protective. I've never done and I hope to step-by-step instructions and detailed. Thank you!

You do not really say what kind of ideas you are looking for custom painting. You are painting is solid or you just want some stenciling ideas? If you are painting is the first solid (I would use an exterior latex paint or stain because it is less prone to cracking and peeling) then paint it as you like and then seal it. You can buy stencil patterns in any paint or craft store, if that is what you're looking for. There are a lot of great magazines out there with great ideas for this kind of things or even websites. Find something you like and go for it!
