Lightweight Pushchairs – Choosing The Right Pushchair

Possibly one of the most important factors to think about when choosing a pushchair is the weight of it. Weight is so important because you will be using the pushchair a lot of the time, including having to lift it and fold it, on your own. Therefore it is practical to consider getting a lightweight pushchair when deciding which kind to buy.

Try to think through a typical day for you and your baby, and make a list of all the activities you do with a pushchair. Then use this list when thinking of features to consider in a pushchair. For example if you use public transport regularly you will have to lift the pushchair onto and off buses and trains. If you drive you will have to fold up the pushchair, lift it into the car and then get it out again, probably quite often.

Usually you will encounter obstacles to manoeuvre around or over every day, such as curbs and stairs. It would be much easier for you if you had a lightweight pushchair.

You should look at the weight of all the pushchairs you are considering but remember that the weight of your child will be added onto that when you’re pushing it around. The weight of the actual pushchair is important to consider for folding and lifting the pushchair but also for pushing it with a child in it.

Pushing can be hard work, depending on the terrain you are covering and also the distance. If you walk for long distances it can become very tiring pushing a heavy pushchair and a lightweight pushchair would make a huge difference. You need all the energy you have to look after your baby so there’s no need to waste it pushing a heavy pushchair around all day.

Lightweight pushchairs are really useful and make life easier for many parents, but the weight should be taken into consideration alongside other factors as well. Before you decide which is the right pushchair for you do some research and compare several types of pushchairs.
