Do not hold off a fan, while on the light switch is the power to use?

I have a ceiling fan with a light built in and is controlled by and a power switch on the wall. When you are in I can activate it with a remote control that comes with, but only when it is on selection for the switch light. What happens if the light switch is up, but turn the fan off with the remote. This will be the use of electricity and charging my electric bill.

If the light switch up, the remote control receiver in the assembly is on, waiting for a signal from the remote transmitter. It will use the power, but very little. The same is true for any remotely controlled device, like a television.
