How should I decorate my sons bedroom?

I have a child 6 months of age and as we have just bought a new house I want to decorate his room (pictures, edges etc.), my dilemma is should I do as a nursery or baby room boys? I had a nursery set up at our old house with Care Bears, but this time want to do something different. They put me in a race car curtains, I follow it? And if I go to the theme of the nursery school, at what age should I change a theme of older kids?
